Do you want to work in a vibrant organisation and make new international friends? We are looking for an enthusiastic Events Intern to join our diverse and friendly team.
International Students House is a vibrant student centre offering accommodation, social and support services for resident and non-resident British and overseas students. In addition, International Students House encompasses the ISH Venues, the ‘229’ music venue and the Thirsty Scholar Bar.
The day to day activities of the Events Intern are varied and will include:
- Assisting with the administration, promotion and supervision of the ongoing social and cultural programme;
- Assisting with the administration of the Travel Cub, including booking activities, accommodation and transport, record keeping, publicity, and group leading on day trips;
- Production, distribution and display of promotional material;
- Liaison with Resident Advisors for internal/external activities;
- Planning and attendance for the Christmas Day event.
What we’re looking for – personal attributes:
- A friendly, welcoming manner;
- An articulate communicator with strong administration skills;
- A reliable individual of an unflappable nature who can work independently and as part of a team;
- A professional and proactive approach to work and willingness to take on any additional responsibilities, as required.
Experience and qualifications:
- Events Management degree or working towards qualification (required);
- Experience of or understanding of the higher education sector (desirable).
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: £27,008 pro rata;
- Meal allowance and discounted food;
- Holiday entitlement is 28 days per annum pro-rata (inclusive of bank holidays);
- Company sponsored healthcare cash plan;
- Term-time only (September – June).
Hours of work:
The usual working week will be 37.5 hours, working 5 out of 7 days. This will include some evenings and weekends.
